PESBA (Engineering Science Bayreuth–Australia)

The Program Engineering Science Bayreuth–Australia (PESBA) is a binational cooperation between the University of Bayreuth and partner universities in Australia. It offers doctoral candidates the opportunity to conduct research in an international environment and gain valuable intercultural experience.

A central feature of the programme is the mandatory research stay at both institutions. Doctoral students spend at least twelve months at each university – in Germany and Australia – and benefit from the scientific expertise and research infrastructure of both locations. Upon successful completion, they are awarded a joint degree by the participating universities.

Through international collaboration, participants expand their scientific networks and develop essential skills for a career in the global research landscape. The structured programme supports them in this journey through professional development opportunities, regular scientific exchange, and individual mentoring.
